My home is my castle ‒ the proverb goes. It means that home plays a great
role in our life. It gives us a sense of stability, security and unity.
It goes
without saying that types of living differ from country to country. There are many types of housing: detached houses,
semi-detached houses, terraced houses and flats. The most common type in
Britain is a semi-detached house. It is a pair of
houses that share one common wall. The two houses are built to mirror each
other. I believe that such houses attract people because there is still some
privacy even if one wall is shared by the two houses. There is just one
disadvantage that you cannot plan repairs or renovations as you have to
consider your twin house.
Speaking about our country, I can say that nowadays people prefer living in
a block of flats.
My family is not an exception. We have a nice flat in
a ____-storey block of flats. Our flat is on the _ floor. It has
all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot
running water, a lift. There are ___ rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a WC in
our flat.
MY
ROOM (your own excerpt)
But the warmest place in our
flat is the kitchen, I think ‒ the place where the whole family gathers every
evening not only to have dinner together, but also to speak and rest.
To sum up, I’d like to say
that everyone is free to choose where to live. But it’s important to say that
it’s not the type of building but people who create a special atmosphere. A
cottage or a terraced house, a semi-detached house or a flat can be a heaven if
people treat it with care and love.
